Someone asked if I'm having fun, what with the rain and cold, and the answer is absolutely YES.
The people I've met, the views, wildlife, all terrific. Most of the riding is quite pleasant and comfortable but even when it's not I'm having a good time because I'm experiencing something new and expanding my limits. Sure, after 7 or 8 hours in the rain it's not physically comfortable, but I've got a big smile on as I get to see the countryside in conditions that I have never experienced, explore what riding in the rain is all about, see whether my skills are up to it, improve those skills, test the limits of my equipment (I like science experiments!), go back and modify and refine that equipment.
Being solo, I can push to my personal limits, or not, without having to hold anyone else back or drag anyone else along.
